Legion Rush — Frequently Asked Questions
Everything players actually ask about Legion Rush, answered from how the game really works. For strategy depth, see the beginner's guide and the five boss guides.
Is Legion Rush free?
Yes — completely free, played directly in the browser with no download, no account and no sign-up. The site may show a small banner advertisement on menu screens, never during gameplay.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Touch anywhere and drag — your legion follows your finger. The camera adapts to portrait, the HUD is responsive on small screens, and a recent balance patch matched mobile's combat window to desktop's, so both platforms fight the same fight. The game is also on Google Play in closed testing; the web version is identical and free.
How is my progress saved?
Automatically, in your browser's localStorage — gems, Armory upgrades, best level and option toggles all live on your own device and are never uploaded anywhere. That also means saves are per browser: playing in a different browser (or an incognito window) starts fresh, and clearing your browser's site data erases the save. There is a “Reset Save” button in the Options menu if you want a clean slate on purpose.
Can I play offline?
On the web build, yes. Legion Rush is a progressive web app: after your first visit, a service worker caches the game's files, so it loads and plays without a connection. When you're back online it picks up new versions automatically.
How many levels are there?
Fifty, across three worlds: a medieval kingdom at war (levels 1–20), a haunted night forest (21–40) and a scorched ancient desert (41–50). Every tenth level is a boss — five in total, from Sir Gundred at level 10 to the three-phase Pharaoh Akhotep at level 50.
How do merges work?
Twenty basic characters fuse into one Experienced veteran, and thirty veterans forge a legend — Robin Hood for archers, the Warlord for soldiers. The merged unit carries the combined damage of everyone who formed it, gains a permanent x1.3 fire-rate perk that stacks above the door cap, and every merge also pops six fresh recruits into your formation — which can chain into cascading merges near a threshold. One caveat: a merged unit's health is half the sum of its parts, so veterans are strong but not unkillable.
Why did I suddenly lose diamonds mid-level?
A monster got past your legion. Each escapee costs 2 diamonds on the spot (you'll see the red fly-up where it crossed the line) and also shaves 2% off the level's diamond payout, down to a floor. Below level 30 the instant penalty only eats gems you earned on the current level; from level 30 onward leaks bite into your whole run's bank — so late-game lane discipline is worth real money.
What are the shielded elite monsters?
Each world has an armored elite — Knights in the medieval levels, Treeguards in the forest, Scorpions in the desert — that carries a shield soaking extra hits (the Scorpion also shrugs off part of your physical damage). On top of that, ordinary monsters have a growing chance to spawn as elite versions in later bands. Piercing Shots and focused fire are the answer; don't let them park in front of your formation.
What are rushers?
Rare sprinters — the Dark Knight, the Serpent and the Cursed Mummy, one per world — that one-shot anything they touch, including a fully merged legend. Their health is tuned so a focused squad kills one just before contact: aim everything at it the moment it appears, or sidestep its lane entirely. From level 12 at least one appears during every gate stretch, and from level 30, two. Killing a rusher pays bonus gems on top of its normal drop — up to 25 in the desert.
Which hero should I pick — the archer or the soldier?
Sylvan the Archer fires fast (2.3 shots per second) with innate Piercing Shots — best at holding a lane so enemies stack into a column and each arrow kills in depth. Sgt. Bram the Soldier has about a third more health and innate Multishot, trading speed for width — more forgiving, and better against waves spread across the whole corridor. Neither is strictly stronger; they reward different habits.
What are the best skills?
Skills come from boss kills — eight in total, and good runs are built on pairs: Piercing Shots + Multishot (whole volleys drilling through the line), Venom Tips + Multishot or Ricochet (more hits spread more poison), Frost Touch + Deadly Aim (freeze, then shatter with crits), and the Arcane Comet as the emergency answer to rushers and boss summons. Note that Multishot is deliberately never offered at the first boss — it appears from the level-20 pick onward.
What should I buy first in the Armory?
Gems persist through death, and each upgrade's price climbs steeply per level, so buy what compounds: Gem Talisman first (+3% gems per level — it pays for everything else), then War Banner (an extra starting ally every few levels — the strongest early-run effect), Oak Bulwark for survivability, and Honed Blade / Falcon Quiver for damage and attack speed. Eagle-Eye Charm's crit is a fine finisher.
Is there a cap on attack speed?
From doors, yes: attack-rate doors cap at x3 per unit, so rate doors are wasted on a rate-capped veteran. The x1.3 merge perk stacks above the cap, and Battle Haste and the Armory's Falcon Quiver are separate run-wide layers on top. Damage doors have no hard cap but give diminishing returns far above the curve — labels stay honest, snowballs get trimmed.
Why did the boss take no damage for a moment?
Phase protection, not a bug. Pharaoh Akhotep is invulnerable for two seconds each time he crosses a phase threshold (66% and 33% health), and the Rootfather has about half a second of grace as he awakens. Hold your Arcane Comet until the shield drops.
What do the red doors do?
Penalty doors: depending on the door they threaten a share of your squad (capped at 40%), deal a quarter of each member's max health in damage, or lower your damage or attack rate. Trap doors get more common and nastier by band — by the desert, more than a third of gate pairs hide a trap, so read before you steer.
Does Legion Rush collect my data?
No. There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking in the game itself; your save never leaves your device. If ads are shown they are served by Google AdSense with a consent prompt where required. Details in the privacy policy.
